Description

This Edwardian sterling silver oval brooch is studded with clear paste stones, giving the appearance of marquisites along with some sparkle to its austere lines. This antique silver brooch is clean and classic, stylish enough to add a little bling to a top or dress, but simple enough to be worn on more than special occasions. The estate sale the brooch was purchased from described the stones as crystal

This early 1900s brooch is stamped on the back for sterling silver. The stones are untested, and there is some interested irregularity between some of them that suggests they might not be paste but some sort of semi-precious stone or a gemstone. As this is unproven, I'm selling it as a sterling silver brooch with paste stones.

Size

The length of this antique sterling brooch is approximately 35mm, and the width is about 26mm at the widest point. The oval itself is approximately 2mm wide.

Condition

There is some slight wear and scratching to the surface of this antique 925 silver brooch, but these marks are more apparent with magnification, and more noticeable on the back of the pin. The Edwardian C-clasp is still functional and reasonably tight. There are some irregularities between the stones in this antique brooch, thought I'm not certain if this is from stones being replaced over the years, or if it was part of the original design.  Overall, this Edwardian sterling silver and crystal oval brooch is in great vintage condition, considering its age.
